P and I have been meaning to try out this fancy soup and sandwich place on Main street. They also have other locations in the Lower Mainland but this was the closest to us. We finally had a chance to go to Burgoo last Friday night. The wait was short for an inside seat; we didn't have to wait for the heated and covered patio but it seemed a bit isolated there with a wooden door separating it from the rest of the restaurant, so we waited.
Their menu is simple...sorry I've got to be better with taking pictures at dinner...didn't take any this time around. P ordered the gooey cheese grillers with the straight up tomato soup. We really like the gooey cheese but you really have to try not to think about the amount of calories and fat you're ingesting. His soup had a very strong tomato flavour, so likeness would depend on personal preference. I had the Burgoo BLT & C with the butternut squash soup. We loved the soup but the sandwich was nothing special.
Overall, the food and price were reasonable but I don't think we would be visiting it again any time soon...since it's nothing really special. I would say the highlight of the night was the fact that my Gr.6 teacher ended up sitting at the table right next to ours! We had a quick reunion and mini-conversation. That was indeed the best part.
